In a statement on Thursday, Farmasum Fuddang, chairman of the Bokkos Cultural Development Council (BCDC), accused the attackers of attempting to take over their land. He described the incidents as part of a campaign of “ethnic and religious cleansing” and called for residents to arm themselves in self-defence.
Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers, who were said to be speaking the Fulani dialect, launched coordinated assaults in broad daylight. Fuddang urged the government to strengthen security in the area, warning that residents could no longer rely solely on state protection.
