At least 11 people were killed in attacks on communities in Nyiev-ya, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State on Christmas Day. The attacks reportedly took place while residents were celebrating with their families.
A local resident, who requested anonymity while confirming the incident, revealed that distress messages were received about attacks in Tse Azege and Ityuluv, both within Nyiev-ya community.
The President General of Mzough U Tiv (MUT) Worldwide, CP Iorbee Ihagh (retired), who is from Kwande LGA, described the attack as unprovoked. He confirmed reports from the local community head that several people were killed. Another native, Solomon Amande, also confirmed the deaths, alleging that armed herders and militia groups were responsible.

The Benue State Police Command has not yet responded to the incident. When contacted, the Command’s spokesperson, Sewuese Anene, stated that she had no information on the attacks.
