Gunmen have killed 13 worshippers inside a mosque in Unguwan Mantau community, Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State. The attack happened on Tuesday morning during dawn prayers.
According to Nasir Mu’azu, the state commissioner for internal security, the assault was a reprisal after villagers ambushed and killed several bandits two days earlier, seizing motorcycles, weapons, and freeing kidnap victims.

Security forces, including the Nigerian Army and Police, have been deployed to the area to restore calm and pursue the attackers. According to officials, the assailants fired indiscriminately inside the mosque before fleeing.
The Katsina State Government has condemned the killings, extended condolences to families of the victims, and reaffirmed its commitment to support community-based security initiatives while intensifying efforts against armed groups.
