At least 23 people have been killed in a series of attacks by gunmen across Katsina, Kaduna, Kwara, Plateau and Niger states over the weekend. In Katsina, seven people died when armed men stormed Magajin Wando village in Dandume Local Government Area on Friday night. The state government said swift intervention by security operatives prevented further casualties, but the attackers later ambushed those evacuating the injured.
In Kaduna, seven residents of Wake community in Kachia Local Government Area were killed and 11 others injured when bandits invaded the area on Sunday. Local sources said several people were abducted, while the injured were taken to hospitals in Kachia and Kaduna for treatment.

In Kwara State, gunmen killed two people and abducted eight others in Shagbe community, Ifelodun Local Government Area. Police confirmed the attack, saying the bandits also rustled cattle and demanded a ransom of 200 million naira from the community and its traditional ruler.
Meanwhile, six miners were shot dead at a site in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, while in Niger State, bandits killed a herder and kidnapped several farmers and travellers in separate raids across Mariga, Magama, Kontagora and Rijau. Residents report that attacks have continued daily in the past week, heightening fears of worsening insecurity in the region.
