Suspected militia have killed three police officers and five civilians in Tor-Damisa community in Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Residents say the attackers, armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the area at about 1 p.m. on Wednesday, opening fire indiscriminately and forcing people, including women and children, to flee into nearby bushes.
Police spokesperson Victor Mshelizah said officers deployed to the scene came under attack, leading to a gun battle in which the assailants were repelled. He confirmed that three officers, including Corporal Raphael Danjuma and Police Constables Ebenezer Daniel and Samuel Bawa, were killed.

The police also confirmed the death of a 60-year-old vigilante leader, while several others were injured. Security forces, including soldiers, have since been deployed to the area, which residents say has largely been deserted.
