Gunmen have killed two people and abducted more than 100 in attacks on communities in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The assaults took place in Gamdum Mallam and Ruwan Rana villages on Saturday.
Witnesses said the attackers arrived on motorbikes, firing shots and seizing women and children. The village head of Gamdum Mallam, Muhammadu Mai Anguwa, told Reuters the victims were taken towards Makakari forest.

A resident, Huzaifa Isa, said the gunmen split into groups, with one carrying out abductions while the other mounted a roadblock at Adafka’s main entrance, shooting at passersby. Lawmaker Hamisu Faru confirmed that more than 100 residents have been abducted since the weekend.
The attack follows a rise in violence in Zamfara. Earlier this month, gunmen killed 24 people and abducted 144 in Kaura Namoda, while in July, 33 kidnap victims were killed in Banga town despite a ransom payment of 50 million naira.
