Two police officers have been killed after gunmen attacked a border checkpoint along the Bakin Ruwa–Maje road in Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State. The assault happened on Thursday, 5 March, when the attackers reportedly stormed the checkpoint in large numbers and opened fire.
Eyewitnesses say the gunmen overpowered the officers on duty before setting fire to the tent used by the police at the checkpoint.
The Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, Bashir Usman, confirmed the incident. He said two officers were killed and the checkpoint was burnt, adding that police authorities are investigating the attack and will provide further details.

The latest assault is the third recent attack along the Bakin Ruwa–Maje border corridor, where gunmen had earlier killed personnel of the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Immigration Service.
