Hamas has criticised Israel’s decision to postpone the release of more than 600 Palestinian prisoners, rejecting claims that the handover ceremonies for hostages were “humiliating.” The group accused Israel of using the issue as a pretext to avoid commitments under the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office confirmed the delay, insisting that future hostage releases must proceed without public displays.

On Saturday, Hamas freed six Israeli hostages; four in public ceremonies and two privately, marking the final release of living captives under the initial phase of the truce. The remains of four others are expected to be returned on Thursday.
In exchange, Israel was set to release 620 Palestinian detainees, including 23 children and one woman. However, Israeli officials halted the process, prompting Hamas to accuse Israel of violating the truce and raising fresh concerns over the fragile ceasefire.
