Tragedy struck in Plateau State on Tuesday as 19 people, including five personnel of the Nigerian Air Force, lost their lives in a devastating road accident at Hawan Kibo, in the Riyom Local Government Area.
According to a statement from Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, the officers were en route to Abuja for a sporting event when their vehicle collided with an oncoming truck.
Further details were provided by Superintendent Route Commander Peter Y. Longsan of the Federal Road Safety Corps. He confirmed that the 18-passenger bus, travelling from Yola through Jos to Abuja, crashed into a stationary articulated lorry on the highway. Tragically, the driver and all 18 passengers lost their lives.

The remains of the victims have been taken to a local mortuary, and the wreckage has since been cleared from the scene.
