Health ministry mandates ALL Nigeria-bound travellers to fill health declaration form over fears of Mpox

The Ministry of Health has mandated all travellers entering the country to fill and submit a health declaration form over the monkeypox (Mpox) outbreak in some parts of Africa.

The directive, instituted to curb the spread of the disease, took effect on Sunday 11 August. Travellers can access and fill the form online by visiting www.healthapp.ncdc.gov.ng look for the health declaration page. Alternatively, the form could be printed out and a physical copy filled out and submitted. Both should be done before intending travellers depart their locations in order to avoid delays upon arriving in Nigeria.

On Friday, the Africa Centre for Disease Control, CDC, said it will likely declare a public health emergency of continental security, PHECS, over mpox in the coming week, as a new variant of the disease known as Clade Ib is spreading, mostly in Congo.
