Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja has granted the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, permission to freeze 24 bank accounts across multiple financial institutions. The accounts are alleged to be linked to activities involving terrorism financing, according to a motion filed by EFCC’s legal representative, Martha Babatunde.
The freeze, effective for an initial period of 90 days, will allow investigators to conclude their inquiry into the matter. The EFCC asserts that the accounts are owned by Lawrence Eromosele, a suspect in a case related to kidnapping.

Ms. Babatunde further disclosed that preliminary investigations have unearthed connections between the accounts and individuals exploiting virtual cryptocurrency platforms. These individuals are accused of manipulating naira exchange rates and laundering proceeds from unlawful activities.
