Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has urged leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party to end all legal disputes and organise a fresh national convention following a court ruling that nullified the party’s November 2025 convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The Court of Appeal on March 9 upheld an earlier judgement of a Federal High Court, which restrained the party from conducting the convention, ruling that the PDP failed to comply with constitutional provisions and did not give the Independent National Electoral Commission valid notice.
Delivering the lead judgement, Justice Uchechukwu Onyemenam said the party also failed to conduct congresses in more than 14 states as required by law before the convention was held.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his media aide, Yusuph Olaniyonu, Saraki warned that continued litigation could jeopardise the party’s ability to field candidates in the 2027 elections and urged members to organise an inclusive convention in line with INEC guidelines.
