The House of Representatives has approved the Senate’s version of Clause 60(3) on election result transmission, allowing both electronic and manual reporting. The decision followed an emergency sitting on Tuesday, reversing an earlier approval by the House that mandated solely electronic transmission from polling units to the IREV portal.
Opposition lawmakers staged a walkout during the session, chanting against the ruling party, in protest of the adoption. The approved clause now stipulates that if electronic transmission fails due to communication issues, the signed Form EC8A will serve as the primary source for collation and declaration of results.

The revision aims to provide a backup mechanism for the transmission of results while maintaining electronic reporting as the standard.
