Houthis Threaten Attacks on Israel if Gaza Assault Resumes

The leader of Yemen’s Houthi movement has warned that his forces are prepared to strike Israel should it resume military operations in Gaza and fail to uphold the ceasefire agreement.

In a televised address on Tuesday, Abdulmalik al-Houthi declared that his group remained committed to targeting Israel if hostilities reignited. The Houthis, who control much of western Yemen, including the capital, Sanaa, have previously launched attacks on Israeli-linked vessels in the Red Sea, disrupting global shipping routes. They claimed these actions were acts of solidarity with Palestinians during Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.

The ceasefire deal itself appears increasingly fragile, with Hamas announcing a halt to the release of Israeli hostages, accusing Israel of breaching the terms of the agreement.

In response, Israel’s Defence Minister, Yoav Gallant, has placed the country’s military on high alert, ordering heightened readiness for operations in Gaza and bolstering domestic security measures.
