Humanitarian Aid to Gaza Reaches Record Levels Amid Ceasefire

The flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza soared on Sunday, with over 630 trucks entering the enclave on the first day of a fragile ceasefire.

United Nations officials confirmed it was the largest influx since Israeli bombardments began 15 months ago. Tom Fletcher, the UN relief chief, reported on Monday that more than 300 trucks reached northern Gaza, where severe shortages have raised fears of famine.

Before the ceasefire, aid deliveries were restricted to fewer than 100 trucks daily, with some suspended altogether. Relief agencies had accused Israel of imposing excessive checks and closing border crossings, allegations Israel denied.

Israeli authorities insisted a minimum of 200 trucks daily were needed to meet basic needs, including food, medicine, and fuel.
