The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has accused the Nigeria Police Force and the Kogi State Government of orchestrating a campaign to frustrate Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
The group alleged that the Kogi State Police Command, in collusion with Governor Usman Ododo, a first cousin to ex-Governor Yahaya Bello, blocked the senator from accessing her family home and constituents.
HURIWA urged police authorities to remain apolitical and uphold their constitutional role under the Police Act 2020. It also called for an investigation into the state’s Commissioner of Police, demanding he present credible evidence to justify security restrictions imposed on Akpoti-Uduaghan.
The organisation described the developments as a politically motivated crackdown and warned against using law enforcement as a tool for partisan interests.
