Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), says he sought permission from leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to accept a ministerial appointment under the current administration.
Before his appointment, there were moves by some members of the PDP to suspend the former governor of Rivers over his association with members of the All Progressives Congress.

Mr Wike says he wrote to leaders of his party, including Iliya Damagum, the acting chairman of the PDP, and got their approval to be part of President Tinubu’s cabinet.
Speaking during his maiden press conference as FCT Minister, he reeled out a 10-point agenda with emphasis on security, city sanitation, preservation of the Abuja master plan, infrastructure development, restoration of green areas, removal of shanties, plugging revenue leakages, ground rents payment, among others.
