ICPC to Arraign El-Rufai in Two Separate Cases in Kaduna

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) says it will arraign former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El Rufai, on Tuesday. The arraignment is scheduled to take place at a Federal High Court in Kaduna.

El Rufai has been in detention since February 16, 2026, after honouring an invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He was initially questioned by the EFCC before being transferred to the custody of the ICPC.

His continued detention has drawn reactions from groups and individuals who have called on authorities to either charge him to court or release him. The ICPC has now confirmed that formal legal proceedings will begin.

According to the commission, the charges include alleged conversion and possession of public property, as well as money laundering. A separate case has also been filed at a Kaduna State High Court, with additional allegations including abuse of office, fraud, and conferring undue advantage.
