The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has averred that quasi-security outfits will not be allowed to intervene in the forthcoming September 21 election in Edo state.
He stated this Sunday during the Edo Election Security Town Hall, a programme organised by Channels Television in partnership with the Kimpact Development Initiative and the UK International Development.
While emphasising that only the police and other security agencies will be lawfully deployed for the exercise, the IGP assured Nigerians that the police will be impartial, professional, and “vigilant whilst providing a level playing ground for all the political parties and their candidates”.
