IGP Inaugurates Committee on State Police Implementation

The Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has inaugurated a seven-member committee to oversee the implementation of state police across the country. The committee, led by Professor Olu Ogunsakin, was set up today to develop an operational framework for establishing and coordinating state police structures.

Speaking at the inauguration, Disu said the panel will review policing models within and outside Nigeria and address issues including recruitment, training, resource allocation, and oversight mechanisms. He said decentralising the police would enable state and local authorities to respond more effectively to security challenges within their jurisdictions.
