IGP says Sudan crisis mastermind planned to destabilise Nigeria during protests

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, on Monday said a man, who was one of the masterminds of the crisis that ravaged Sudan, was among the organisers of the just-concluded ‘End Bad Governance’ nationwide protest.

Addressing reports of a police raid on the headquarters of the Nigeria Labour Congress, the Inspector-General said police operatives did not raid the labour headquarters, but the office of the foreigner in the Labour House, who they accuse of attempting to destabilise the country.

While fielding questions after a Youth Summit organised by the force in Abuja, IGP Egbetokun said the foreigner, who was traced to the Labour House, later escaped, but valuable documents in connection with his “activities” were recovered.

He added that the police had intelligence at its disposal that some agents of destabilisation were ready to use the hardship protest to destabilise Nigeria. According to him, the suspects would not be named yet as the police force is still on their trail.
