Middlesbrough striker Tommy Conway has praised Kelechi Iheanacho’s leadership behind the scenes, highlighting the Nigerian’s positive influence despite a difficult spell on the pitch.
Iheanacho, on loan from Sevilla since January, has scored once and provided two assists, a return that has drawn criticism from fans, including jeers during Boro’s recent defeat to Leeds United.

However, following Middlesbrough’s win over Plymouth, Conway defended the 28-year-old, describing him as a key dressing room figure whose experience and attitude have helped steady the squad in a tense run-in.
With just two matches left in the regular Championship season, Boro remain in contention for a playoff place. Conway believes Iheanacho’s off-field role has been instrumental in maintaining focus and unity during a challenging campaign.
