India deports 32 Nigerians over alleged involvement in a drug trafficking network

Indian authorities have deported 32 Nigerians over alleged involvement in a major drug trafficking network. The deportations follow the arrest of 50 Nigerians last month in a coordinated operation by Delhi Police and the Telangana Police EAGLE unit targeting a transnational narcotics syndicate.

Investigators said the suspects were supplying drugs from Delhi using courier services disguised as legitimate shipments. Officials linked the network to a leader identified as Nick, who is wanted in several cases and believed to be operating from Nigeria with more than 100 associates in Delhi.

Police said analysis of seized devices suggested the syndicate had more than 3,000 clients across India, with some members also involved in laundering funds to Nigeria. Authorities cited examples including a publisher allegedly moving 20 lakh rupees and business operators in the footwear and apparel sectors partnering with peddlers.

Delhi Police said criminal cases have been filed against seven suspects from whom drugs were recovered, while the remaining arrests may also lead to deportations.
