INEC Chair Meets Electoral Commissioners After FCT Polls

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Joash Amupitan, is meeting Resident Electoral Commissioners at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja. The meeting comes four days after council elections in the Federal Capital Territory and by-elections in Rivers and Kano states.

All Resident Electoral Commissioners from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory are attending. The session is expected to review the conduct and outcomes of Saturday’s polls.

The meeting will also allow commissioners to present feedback and discuss preparations for the 2027 general election.

Members of the Forum of State Independent Electoral Commissions are also present on a courtesy visit, with their leader saying the engagement is aimed at strengthening collaboration on local government elections nationwide.
