The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally notified Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of a petition by constituents seeking her removal from the National Assembly.
In a letter signed by the Commission’s Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, INEC confirmed receipt of the petition along with the contact details of the signatories. The move aligns with clause 2(a) of the Commission’s 2024 Regulations and Guidelines for Recall.

INEC’s National Commissioner for Information and Voter Education, Sam Olumekun, said the Commission would now verify the list of signatories to determine whether it meets the required threshold of more than half of the registered voters in the constituency. The verification process is expected to take place in the coming days.
