The Federal Government has urged Nigerians to remain united as the country confronts fresh waves of terrorism, banditry, and criminal attacks.
At a briefing in Abuja, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, warned that those attempting to frame recent violence along religious lines were promoting harmful and false narratives. He stressed that Nigeria’s security crisis is driven by criminality that affects citizens across all backgrounds.
Minister Idris conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s condolences following a series of recent tragedies, including the killing of a senior Army officer, the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi, and an attack on a church in Kwara. He confirmed that the President has placed security agencies on heightened alert and cancelled his trip to the G20 meeting in South Africa.
