Israel carries out air strikes across southern Lebanon

Israeli warplanes carried out at least a dozen air strikes across southern Lebanon on Friday, targeting locations the military says are used by Hezbollah for weapons training. The attacks hit hills and valleys in the Jezzine and Zahrani areas, including sites near al-Aaichiyeh, al-Zrariyeh, Ansar, and Jabal al-Rafie.

The Israeli military said the raids targeted the Hezbollah Radwan Force and other infrastructure, claiming the operations were necessary to prevent attacks on Israeli forces and civilians. The strikes avoided densely populated areas, according to reporting from Beirut.

The United Nations has expressed concern over the continued bombardment, reporting that at least 127 civilians, including children, have been killed in Lebanon since the ceasefire was agreed in late 2024. UN officials warned that some attacks may amount to war crimes.

Diplomatic efforts continue as Lebanon recently sent civilian envoys to monitor the ceasefire and engage in talks with Israel. However, Hezbollah has refused to disarm, citing ongoing Israeli attacks, while Lebanese officials are calling for a stronger verification mechanism to prevent further violations.
