Israel Has Not Shared Humanitarian Assistance Plan For Rafah, Says US State Department

US State Department spokesperson, Matthew Miller, says Israel is yet to present a plan to protect civilians in Rafah to the Biden White House amid a looming Israeli ground offensive in the southern Gaza city.

Responding to questions from the press, Mr. Miller said the US government has made it clear to the Israeli government, both in private conversations and publicly a number of times, that the Israeli Defence Forces cannot or should not go into Rafah without a humanitarian assistance plan that is credible and that they can actually implement.

Israel last month warned it will expand its ground operations into Rafah if Palestinian armed group Hamas does not free the remaining captives held in Gaza by the start of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan in March.
