Israel has carried out a series of airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, killing at least 88 people, including many children, with many victims reportedly asleep during the attacks.
The deadliest strike occurred early Thursday in Beit Lahiya, Gaza’s northern region, killing 66 people, according to Palestinian health officials.
Hospitals in Gaza are overwhelmed, with bodies still trapped in the wreckage as rescue efforts continue. At least 22 people, including 10 children, were also killed in a separate attack on Gaza City’s Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood.

Meanwhile, the United States vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire, intensifying global criticism of the ongoing violence.
