Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has informed US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff that Israel’s security cabinet will convene on Monday to deliberate on the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
The first phase of the truce has two weeks remaining, but fears are mounting over its fragility. Hamas has repeatedly accused Israel of violating the agreement, while far-right Israeli politicians continue to demand a resumption of hostilities.

Under the terms of the second phase, Hamas is expected to release all remaining living captives, primarily male soldiers, in exchange for the release of hundreds of Palestinians held in Israeli prisons. Additionally, Israel would begin a full withdrawal from Gaza.
