An Israeli air strike has severely damaged al Ahli Arab Hospital, the last fully operational medical facility in Gaza City, destroying its intensive care and surgery units. The attack, which occurred on Palm Sunday, drew widespread condemnation.
The Israel Defense Forces claimed the site was being used by Hamas as a command and control centre.
The Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem, which oversees the Anglican-run hospital, said a child previously injured in another strike died during the rushed evacuation.

UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy condemned the attack, saying Israeli strikes on medical sites had crippled access to healthcare across Gaza.
Archbishop of York, Stephen Cottrell, described the timing of the assault as particularly disturbing, noting that the only Christian hospital in Gaza was hit on one of Christianity’s holiest days.
The incident has reignited criticism of Israel’s military campaign in the enclave.
