More than twenty-five people have been killed in Israeli air strikes across Lebanon, including in the capital, Beirut, as the conflict linked to the wider war involving the United States, Israel and Iran intensifies. Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health says the latest attacks on Friday struck Beirut as well as southern and eastern parts of the country.
Officials say an early morning strike hit a car in the Jnah district of southwestern Beirut, killing one person. Another attack struck an apartment in the Nabaa neighbourhood, an area with a large Armenian community, marking the first time it has been targeted in this conflict. Later, an Israeli drone hit a residential building in Bourj Hammoud, northeast of the capital.
The health ministry says nearly six hundred and eighty-seven people have been killed in Israeli attacks across Lebanon in less than two weeks, including ninety-eight children. More than eight hundred thousand people have also been displaced. Israel says some of the strikes targeted members of the armed group Hezbollah and locations it believes are linked to the group.

The United Nations Secretary General, António Guterres, arrived in Beirut on Friday for what he described as a visit of solidarity with the Lebanese people. He said the United Nations would continue efforts to support a peaceful future for Lebanon and the wider region.
