At least 87 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike that struck several multi-story buildings in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza, overnight on Saturday, according to Gaza’s health ministry and Mahmud Bassal, spokesperson for the Civil Defence Agency.
Bassal confirmed that rescue teams recovered the bodies and treated numerous wounded, attributing the casualties to an Israeli airstrike on a residential area. Kamal Adwan Hospital, overwhelmed by the influx of injured, saw many patients being treated on the floor due to overcrowding. Nearby, the dead were wrapped in white burial shrouds, lined up as grieving relatives gathered.

The Israeli military stated that the strike targeted a “Hamas terror site” in Beit Lahia, and disputed the casualty figures provided by Gaza authorities, claiming they did not match their own intelligence.
