The office of Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, says the Minister of Strategic Affairs, Ron Dermer, and National Security Adviser, Tzachi Hanegbi, will travel to Washington DC to discuss Israel’s planned ground offensive on Rafah.
This announcement follows a request for the meeting by the US Biden administration, which has repeatedly said that it has still not seen any concrete plans for the protection of civilians, something that it says is required in order to support any potential offensive on the city.

Three days ago, Prime Minister Netanyahu approved plans for an invasion of Rafah, where at least 1.5 million displaced Palestinians have sought shelter.
Israel’s allies and critics have cautioned the Israeli Prime Minister against the invasion of Rafah, fearing mass civilian casualties. But the Israeli government claims that the area in southern Gaza is one of the last strongholds of Hamas, which it has pledged to eliminate.
