Israeli forces have killed at least nine Palestinians in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin, just days after a fragile ceasefire brought a temporary halt to hostilities in Gaza.

The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, announced the launch of a large-scale military operation, codenamed “Iron Wall,” during a televised statement on Tuesday. Mr. Netanyahu described the offensive as an effort to, in his words, “eradicate terrorism in Jenin.”
