At least 28 people were killed, and 54 injured, in an Israeli airstrike on a school sheltering displaced families in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza.
According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, the strike hit the Rufaida al-Aslamia school, where witnesses reported two blasts targeting rooms storing and distributing food aid.
The Israeli military, which described the strike as a ‘precise’ operation against Hamas fighters using the school as a command-and-control centre, claimed measures were taken to minimise civilian harm.
