At least 17 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli air and ground strikes in the north and south of Gaza, hospital officials say. Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City reported 13 dead, including five children, while Nasser hospital in Khan Younis received four fatalities, including one child.
The Israeli military said the strikes followed gunfire from “terrorists” in the north of the Strip that seriously wounded a soldier near the Yellow Line, territory controlled by Israel under the ceasefire agreement with Hamas. Israel described the strikes as a response to a violation of the truce.
The attacks hit tents and homes in Gaza City’s eastern Zeitoun and Tuffah neighbourhoods and in the Qizan Rashwan area of Khan Younis. Both Israel and Hamas have accused each other of nearly daily ceasefire violations since it took effect on 10 October 2025.

The conflict traces back to a Hamas-led assault on southern Israel in October 2023, which killed about 1,200 people and left 251 hostages. Since then, the Gaza health ministry reports more than 71,800 Palestinians killed, while Israel says four of its soldiers have died in attacks by Palestinian fighters.
