Israel has carried out a strike in Doha targeting senior Hamas officials, including members of the group’s negotiating team, in what is being described as a major escalation in its campaign across the Middle East. The attack, confirmed to have been communicated to Washington in advance, came just hours after Israel warned residents of Gaza City to evacuate ahead of a planned offensive.

The move has drawn sharp condemnation. Qatar denounced the strike as a violation of its sovereignty, a view echoed by the UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who said the Gulf state had been playing a constructive role in ceasefire talks. Turkey and the Arab League also accused Israel of disregarding international law.
Despite mounting criticism, the UK confirmed that Prime Minister Keir Starmer will meet Israeli President Isaac Herzog in London. The British Prime Minister condemned the strike, calling for an immediate ceasefire and humanitarian relief.
