Italian Fashion Designer Valentino Garavani Dead at 93

Italian fashion designer Valentino Garavani has died at the age of 93. His foundation announced on Monday that he passed away peacefully at his residence in Rome, Italy, surrounded by members of his family.

In a statement posted on Instagram, the Fondazione Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giametti confirmed the death of its founder, describing him as one of the most influential figures in global fashion. No further details were disclosed.

Born on May 11, 1932, in Voghera, northern Italy, Valentino studied fashion in Milan and Paris before establishing the Valentino fashion house in Rome in 1960. He became internationally recognised for his elegant tailoring, romantic designs and the distinctive shade known as Valentino Red.

During his career, Valentino dressed prominent figures including Jackie Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor and Princess Diana. He retired from active design in 2008 after receiving numerous international honours for his contribution to fashion.
