The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has extended the 2025 admission deadline for public universities from October 31 to November 17. The decision, announced on JAMB’s official X handle, follows appeals from university vice-chancellors and recent accreditation of new programmes.
JAMB said the extension was necessary to allow universities complete their admission processes, which had been delayed by a court order halting the 2025/2026 admission list. The order was lifted on October 28, paving the way for institutions to resume admissions.

The Board also cited the National Universities Commission’s accreditation of 229 new programmes across 37 universities on October 29 as a reason for the extension, noting that admissions into those courses were only just beginning.
JAMB commended universities for their cooperation and stressed that the new November 17 deadline is final. It reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining transparency and fairness in the admission process in line with national education goals.
