Ten people lost their lives in Jigawa State after a Toyota Hummer bus collided with a parked trailer along the Kano-Hadejia Road in Yanfari village, Taura Local Government Area. The tragic accident occurred on the evening of November 10th around 9:30 p.m., according to the Jigawa State Police Command.
The bus, driven by 35-year-old Sani Mainasara and carrying eleven passengers, was travelling from Kano to Hadejia when it struck a stationary trailer. The impact caused the bus to overturn, killing the driver and nine passengers on the spot.
Police patrol teams responded swiftly, evacuating the victims to Hadejia General Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. The only survivor is currently receiving treatment at Majia Primary Health Care Centre and is reportedly in stable condition.
Authorities have begun an investigation to determine the cause of the accident and assess any possible negligence.
