A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a no-case submission filed by former Acting Accountant-General of the Federation, Anamekwe Nwabuoku, in his ongoing money laundering trial. Presiding Judge James Omotosho ruled that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had established a prima facie case, requiring Nwabuoku to open his defence.
The court held that the prosecution’s evidence and exhibits were sufficient to warrant continuation of the case, stressing that the defendant remains presumed innocent until proven guilty. The trial is to resume on November 24, 25, and December 9.
