All 183 worshippers abducted during a church service in Kurmin Wali community, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, have been rescued, 18 days after they were taken by bandits on January 18. Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, received the victims on Thursday at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House in Kaduna, alongside heads of security agencies, government officials and community leaders.
Governor Sani said 11 of the abducted worshippers were released earlier and hospitalised, 83 regained their freedom days later, while the remaining 89 were rescued on Wednesday, bringing the total number freed to 183.

The governor said the rescued worshippers would undergo medical examinations and psychosocial care in Kaduna before reuniting with their families. He also disclosed plans to strengthen security around the Kajuru Kachia axis, including a request for a military base in the Rijana area along the Kaduna Abuja corridor, as well as infrastructure projects for Kurmin Wali. Speaking for the Christian Association of Nigeria in Kaduna State, its chairman, Reverend Caleb Maaji, thanked the state government and security agencies for the return of all the abducted worshippers.
