The Kaduna State government has announced the death of Kachalla Sharme, a bandit commander who has been linked to the 2021 abduction of 121 students from Bethel Baptist High School in the state.\
In a statement on Monday, Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner for the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs said the bandit commander was killed during a shootout with a rival bandit group.
He said the clash occurred over the weekend in the area around the Rijana and Kaso Forests, which spans Kachia and parts of Chikun and Kajuru LGAs.

Mr Aruwan also added that two other bandits were also killed and five others were injured in the clash.
