In Kaduna state, 5 of the 39 abducted students of Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, have regained freedom 25 days after their abduction. The five students returned yesterday in the afternoon and were taken to a military medical facility for examination, the Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs in the state, Samuel Aruwan, said in a statement. According to Nasir El-Rufai, the governor of Kaduna state, the state will not negotiate with the bandits for the release of the students.

Parents of the abducted children have however vowed to continue to negotiate with bandits to secure the release of their children, but the governor says anyone caught doing that will be punished.
