Kannywood Star Malam Nata’ala Dies After Prolonged Illness

Prominent Kannywood actor Mato Na Mato, widely known as Malam Nata’ala, has died after a prolonged illness. The Director-General of the Nigerian Film Corporation, Ali Nuhu, confirmed his death on Monday through a post on Instagram.

Born in Yobe State, Nata’ala passed away on Sunday at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital. His illness had prompted widespread concern and fundraising support from well-wishers, including the Yobe State government and the Government of Niger Republic.

Nata’ala rose to fame for his role as an almajiri teacher in the popular Hausa drama series ‘Dadin Kowa’ on Arewa24. His death has drawn tributes from colleagues, fans, and political figures, including Yobe State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Ya Jalo Badama, who described him as a respected contributor to the state and the film industry.

The commissioner, alongside Kannywood stakeholders, expressed condolences to the Yobe State government, Potiskum Emirate Council, and the actor’s family, praying for Allah’s mercy and eternal rest for the late entertainer.
