A Federal High Court sitting in Kano has sentenced social media personality Murja Kunya to six months in prison for abusing the Nigerian currency.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, secured the conviction on Wednesday before Justice Simon Amobeda, following her guilty plea to a single amended charge.
The popular TikToker was initially arrested in January for spraying Naira notes at a hotel—an act prohibited under the Central Bank of Nigeria Act.

Though granted administrative bail, she later absconded ahead of her scheduled court appearance.
Following weeks of surveillance, EFCC operatives re-arrested her on 16 March. She was subsequently arraigned on 20 May.
Miss Kunya’s case forms part of a broader crackdown on Naira abuse, with authorities intensifying efforts to preserve the sanctity of the national currency amid rising concerns over its public handling.
