The Kano State House of Assembly has mandated its standing committee on sports to investigate the relegation of Kano Pillars FC from the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).

The football club was relegated last month following a decision by the Appeals Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to turn down the club’s appeal against a three-point deduction that had been sanctioned by the NFF Disciplinary Committee.

The decision by the State of House was prompted by the adoption of a motion of public importance by Nurudeen Alhassan during the plenary session yesterday.

The lawmaker who serves as the Chairman of the House Standing Committee, described sports as the bedrock for youth development, saying the relegation of the club must be properly investigated to prevent future occurrences.

The house unanimously adopted the motion and charged the standing committee on sports to investigate and report back within two weeks for further legislative action.
