The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission says it will resist any attempt or threats by business operators to close any food market over instability in the price of commodities.
The Chairman of the Commission, Muhuyi Magaji Rimin-Gado, warned that dealers caught hoarding food items in the city will face dire consequences if they do not desist from the act, which they say, is capable of worsening food inflation.

The agency’s warning comes barely 24 hours after the Singer Market Traders Association threatened to shut down the entire section of the market.
He said the commission is embarking on a general inspection, and will clampdown on warehouses where essential food items are being hoarded, adding that those found culpable would be arrested and prosecuted.
