Katsina Health Workers Threaten To Withdraw Services Over Kidnapping

The Katsina State Council of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has announced the withdrawal of its members working in hospitals located along the Frontline and in vulnerable areas of the state. The decision, effective from midnight on Thursday, 30th January 2025, comes after the recent abduction of one of their own, Nurse Yusuf Mai-Ruwa.

Nura Mu’azu, Chairman of the association, made the announcement during a press briefing at the State Council Secretariat, emphasising the urgency of the situation. The briefing followed the abduction of Nurse Mai-Ruwa, who was taken by gunmen while on duty at the General Hospital in Kankara on 15th January 2025.

Additionally, NANNM is pushing for better remuneration and working conditions to attract more health professionals to improve healthcare services in the state.
